The Nagoya Urban Institute offers a training program for citizens so that they can take the initiative in community design activities in their local communities. More specifically, the Nagoya Urban Institute assists citizens in promoting community design organizations, formulating community rules, and holding workshops. The Nagoya Urban Institute also offers information and consultation services.

The Nagoya Urban Institute utilizes investment returns from the Machizukuri Fund to extend financial support to organizations which undertake community design activities. Exchange meetings are also held for such organizations.
